Hartlauer, Franz Josef, b. Steyr (Upper Austria), Dec. 19, 
1944, d. Steyr, May 22, 2000, entrepreneur. Started out as a 
pastry cook and press photographer. 1971 opened the first Hartlauer 
store in Steyr, selling optical devices and electrical appliances, 
then built up a retail chain of over 150 stores throughout Austria 
(now headed by his son Robert H.).
