!!!Hartmann, Moritz

b. Dušniky, Czech Republic (then Duschnik), Oct. 15, 1821, 
d. Vienna, May 13, 1872, writer. Studied medicine in Prague, from 1844 
free-lance writer in Leipzig. In autumn 1848 took part in the uprising 
in Vienna and after it had been put down fled to Switzerland, 1868 
returned to Vienna, editor of the "Neue Freie Presse" daily newspaper 
until he died. One of the greatest political and socially critical 
writers of the pre-revolutionary period advocating liberalism and 
social justice.
