!!!Hartzell, Eugene

Hartzell, Eugene, b. Cincinnati (USA), May 21, 1932, 
composer. After studies in the USA, 1956-1958 private studies with 
H. E.  Apostel in Vienna. 1960-1974 journalist for the 
"London Times", translator, correspondent, and speaker for 
radio, film and television. 1974-1991 editor and announcer for Radio 
Austria International (foreign service of the Austrian broadcasting 
corporation ORF); also freelance work for the ORF; 1986 established 
the ensemble "Wiener Collage". His oeuvre (mainly chamber 
music) takes dodecaphony as its starting point and is also 
characterised by jazz elements.
