!!!Haspinger, Joachim Johann Simon

b. St. Martin im Gsieser Tal (South Tyrol), Oct. 28, 1776, 
d. Salzburg, Jan. 12, 1858, 1802 freedom fighter. 1796/1797 and 1805 
fought against French occupation, in 1809 one of the leaders of  
Tyrol's Fight for Freedom (Battles of Bergisel, Sachsenklemme Aug. 4), 
persuaded A.  Hofer to continue resistance, in 1810 fled to Vienna via 
Switzerland and Italy. 1811 secular priest and until 1836 pastoral 
worker in various parts of Lower Austria, in 1848 field chaplain for 
Tyrolean students in Italy, later lived in Salzburg.
