Hatzfeld, dynasty of counts from Hesse, 1635 status of imperial 
counts, from 1639 owned estates in Silesia. One line of the family 
later achieved historic importance as Princes of Trachenberg in 
Prussian service. Carl Friedrich  Hatzfeld Count of Gleichen, Melchior 
 Hatzfeld Count of Gleichen and Hatzfeld.
