Haugsdorf, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Hollabrunn,
alt. 204 m, pop. 1,775, area 21.23 km%%sup 2/%, situated in
the wine-growing region of the Pulkautal, in the northern Weinviertel
region. - Local Chamber of Farmers, customs office; emphasis on wine
growing and merchandising, Austria's "Rotweingemeinde" (red wine
municipality), best-known types are the Blauer Portugieser and the
Blauburger; print shop. - Gothic parish church (14%%sup th/% -
15%%sup th/% century) with high altar from 1778; parsonage
(1695); so-called "Schloss" (former socage farm, 16%%sup th/% -
17%%sup th/% centuries, alterations around 1800), later town
hall; village multi-purpose centre in the barn of the former socage
farm.
