!!!Haugwitz, Friedrich Wilhelm Graf

b. Saxony (Germany), Dec. 11, 1702, 
d. Krappitz, Czech Republic (then Knoeritz), Sept. 11, 1765, statesman 
and administrator. From 1725 Austrian official in Breslau, in 1742 
regional president of Austria-Silesia. In 1747 appointed by Maria 
Theresia to reform the administration of Carinthia and Carniola, in 
1749 chairman of "Directorium in publicis et cameralibus" 
(administration of financial and political affairs). In 1753 the 
highest chancellor of Bohemia and first chancellor of Austria. He 
separated judiciary and administration and founded a high court of 
justice. 10-year arrangements were agreed upon with the Estates. In 
1760 H. was removed from his office as highest chancellor and 
appointed Minister of Home Affairs in the newly created Staatsrat 
(joint legislative and administrative body).
