b. Vienna, March 12, 1811, 
d. Vienna, Nov. 6, 1861, animal and landscape painter, lithographer. 
Studied at the Vienna Academy; travelled to Italy, Hungary and the 
Orient. Influenced by F.  Gauermann. Famous for his paintings of 
hunting scenes, landscapes and scenes from the 1848 uprising in 
Vienna.
