Helfenberg, Upper Austria, municipality in the district of Rohrbach im 
Muehlkreis, alt. 567 m, pop. 1,116, area 9.59 km%%sup 2/%, on the 
Steinerne Muehl river, in the northern Muehlviertel region close to 
the border with the Czech Republic. - Textile industry (manufacture of 
linen, trousers, towels, etc.), wooden staircases, electric power 
station (private, in the municipality of Afiesl, covers 70 % of 
the power consumption of Helfenberg). - Baroque parish church 
1712-1716 built by J. M. Prunner (Gothic remains), sculptures by 
Philipp Rambler (1714); castle (first documented mention 1224) rebuilt 
1607.
