Aug. 20, 1990, sports official and politician (Austrian Social 
Democratic Party, SPOe). 1959-1978 member of the Vienna Landtag and 
member of the Vienna City Council, 1958-1979 Vienna city councillor 
with executive authority, from 1973 city councillor for sport; 
1979-1987 member of the Bundesrat; 1966-1989 president of the  ASKOe  
(workers' association for sport and physical education in Austria), 
1973-1990 president of the  Olympic Committee, Austrian, 1987-1989 
president of the Association of European National Olympic Committees 
and vice president of the World Organisation; founding member and 
occasionally chairman of the Austrian  Bundes-Sportorganisation  
(federal sports organisation).
