d. Orselina near Locarno (Switzerland), Feb. 24, 1944, ornithologist.
From 1896 worked in museums in Vienna, Munich, Berlin, Paris, Tring
(United Kingdom), 1922-1931 at the Field Museum of Natural History in
Chicago, where he completed the Catalogue of Birds (started by
C. B. Cory, 9 vols.). From 1931 in Vienna again, 1938
emigrated to London and to Switzerland.
