b. Koeszeg, Hungary (then Guens), July 12, 1861, 
d. Vienna, Jan. 6, 1926, gynaecologist, brother of Marie  Herzfeld. 
From 1901 university professor in Vienna, from 1911 at the Franz-Josef 
Hospital as head of the out-patient department and from 1921 as 
hospital director. His text book "Praktische Geburtshilfe" (1897) on 
general obstetrics is a classic in this field.
