!!!Hetzendorf, Wiener Bezirk

Hetzendorf, former independent municipality south of Schoenbrunn, 1892 
merged with other villages to form Vienna´s 12%%sup th/%  
district (Meidling). First documented mention around 1140 as 
"Hercindorf" or "Hercendorf" (1170). Hetzendorf Palace was built 
around 1694 under Count S. Thun as a hunting seat, from 1742 imperial 
property. After 1750 extensions by N. Pacassi, temporarily served as a 
residence to the Habsburgs; exhibition rooms with original decoration 
in the style of the late Rococo; in the vestibule ceiling fresco by D. 
Gran (1746/47); location of the Modeschule der Stadt Wien (fashion 
school) and fashion collection of the Historisches Museum der Stadt 
Wien (founded 1946); palace gardens; parish church (1908/09; 1956-1958 
renovated); old Viennese suburban houses and fashionable residential 
area; Kleingartensiedlung Rosenhuegel allotment estate (1921-1926); 
South-West cemetery.
