d. Paris (France, during detention by Gestapo), Feb. 12, 1941, Social 
Democratic financial politician, editor, one of the leading 
theoreticians of  Austro-Marxism; from 1907 lived in Germany, where he 
was Minister of Finance in 1923 and 1928/29; in 1933 emigrated to 
France.
