Himmelberg, Carinthia, municipality in the district of Feldkirchen, 
alt. 672 m, pop. 2,320, area 56.90 km%%sup 2/%, formerly known 
for its scythe manufacture, situated on the Tiebelbach stream in the 
mountainous forest region north-west of Feldkirchen. -Oberboden power 
station; iron-processing enterprises (ornamental forged iron products, 
garden benches, band saws, etc.), building trade, summer tourism 
(25,817 overnight stays). - First documented mention 1065/66 as 
"Sulca"; Gothic parish church with Baroque alterations, Baroque 
interior and murals (around 1750); Gothic charnel house; Pichlern 
filial church with winged altarpiece (around 1520); Biberstein Castle 
(1396) with arcades (16%%sup th/%  century); boundary stone 
(1612).
