b. Vienna, May 7, 1842, 
d. Vienna, Jan. 16, 1926, landscape painter. Studied at the Vienna 
Academy, in 1906 founded the Austrian Artists' Federation. Produced 
large murals, e.g. for the town hall in Vienna and for the Museum of 
Natural History in Vienna; preferred subjects were panorama-style 
mountain landscapes (Dolomites, foothills of the Alps) and the Wachau 
region. Awarded the artist's medal at the 1873 world fair for his 
paintings "Blick auf Klosterneuburg", "Morgen in der Rheinpfalz" and 
"Attersee".
