!!!Hochstetter, Carl Christian

b. Brno, Czech Republic (then Bruenn), March 11, 1818, 
d. Vienna, Nov. 22, 1880, pharmacist and industrialist. Worked at the 
Salm Iron Works in Moravia, later worked in a Hungarian sugar factory. 
After his studies in Berlin returned to Brno to found a potassium 
ferrocyanide factory, in 1850 founded the first Austrian soda factory 
and an earthware factory together with J. Miller zu Aichholz in 
Hruscha. From 1862 member of the Silesian parliament. 1866 moved to 
Vienna, 1857-1880 high official of the Chamber of Trade in Vienna; was 
involved in many enterprises, e.g. the locomotive factory in 
Floridsdorf and the Perlmoser cement works.
