!!!Hoechle, Johann Baptist

b. Klingnau im Aargau (Switzerland), Oct. 19, 1754, 
d. Vienna, Jan. 1, 1832, painter of portraits and historical and genre 
paintings; father of Johann Nepomuk  Hoechle. Studied at the Academy 
in Augsburg, from 1780 worked in Munich, where he was court painter to 
Elector Karl Theodor of Bavaria; 1800 moved to Vienna, in 1802 became 
court painter and was awarded the title of Kammermaler* as a painter 
of outstanding merit.
