!!!Hohe Wand, Berg

Hohe Wand Mountain, Lower Austria, 1,132 m, massif in the 
limestone Alps, with steep precipices, made of Dachstein limestone, 
part of the Gutenstein Alps, west of the Steinfeld plain; toll road 
(12 % gradient) to the plateau. Numerous mountain refuges: 
Herrgottschnitzerhaus, Kohlroeserlhaus, Alpengasthof Postl. Popular 
climbing area with all degrees of difficulty. Nature park with game 
reserve. In 1981 the Alpine museum and museum of local history and 
culture was opened in the Wiener Neustaedter Haus. Accessible from the 
Piestingtal valley, the Neue Welt basin or from Gruenbach.
