b. Schwendau (Tyrol), Nov. 19, 1814, 
d. Hippach (Tyrol), April 9, 1895, singer. Formed a Tyrolean folk 
group with L. and F. Rainer from Fuegen, which achieved international 
renown. From 1838 headed his own performing troupe; 1839-1847 American 
tour.
