b. Timisoara (Rumania), July 18, 1935, opera house director. Until 
1966 opera singer, from 1967 worked as theatre agent (from 1973 owner 
of the Straka agency), since 1991 director of the  Vienna State Opera 
(1991-1992 together with E.  Waechter).<, 1987-1996 also director of 
the Vienna  Volksoper.
