b. Vienna, June 22, 1852, 
d. Graz (Styria), Dec. 11, 1920, anatomist. Initially worked in 
clinics in Vienna, from 1882 professor in Innsbruck (there became the 
founder of modern anatomy) and in 1889 was appointed to Graz, later 
specialized in the history of anatomy.
