b. Rotterdam (Netherlands), March 18, 1947, singer (bass), 
Kammersaenger. His career began at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, 
from 1975 worked mainly as a concert singer, since the 1990s more 
operatic roles (mostly in operas by R. Wagner); renowned for 
outstanding interpretations of Schubert (performances in Hohenems, 
Vienna, Salzburg); since 1998 professor at the University of Music and 
Performing Arts in Vienna.
