Hollenstein an der Ybbs, Lower Austria, municipality in the district 
of Amstetten, alt. 485 m, pop. 1,948, area 126.37 km%%sup 2/%, 
old hammermill town in the Ybbstal valley, in the Eisenwurzen region. 
Small power stations: Schreybach (in Oberkirchen) and Kesselgraben; 
schools: 2 agricultural schools in Garnberg and Dornleiten); 
electrical installations factory, building trade. Baroque parish 
church (1765) with heavy Gothic tower and Gothic choir (as side 
chapel) situated high above Hollenstein an der Ybbs on a hill on the 
River Ybbs, late-Baroque high altar (painting 1832 by J. Preitschopf), 
side altars with tabernacle paintings by M. J. Schmidt (around 
1767). Calvary around 1750.
