b. Vienna, May 16, 1911, 
d. Vienna, July 21, 1988, philosopher and psychoanalyst. Studied 
philosophy, biology and medicine in Vienna, from 1929 member of the 
Austrian Communist party (KPOe), until 1938 president of the 
"Academical Society of Medical Psychology" in Vienna. In 1938 
emigrated, 1949-1953 professor of philosophy at Humboldt University in 
East Berlin and scientific expert in the Central Committee of the 
KPOe, from 1965 member of the Central Committee. Wrote approx. 30 
books on scientific, psychological and philosophical topics from the 
Marxist point of view.
