b. Stradonice (Czech Republic), Jan. 26, 1830, 
d. Steyr (Upper Austria), May 23, 1903, armourer. 1863 was in America 
together with J.  Werndl (e.g. at Colt); together they developed a 
breech loading rifle ("Werndl-rifle"), after 1867 technical director 
of the arms factory in Steyr.
