!!!Holzknecht, Guido

b. Vienna, Dec. 3, 1872, 
d. Vienna, Oct. 30, 1931, radiologist, university professor in Vienna; 
founded and established the international reputation of the central 
radiology department ("G.-H. Institut") at Vienna General Hospital. 
Together with I. Robinsohn constructed a fluoroscope, a dosimeter for 
x-ray radiation and found that lead aprons afford the best protection 
against radiation. H. died from radiation. Holzknecht´s space 
(retrocardiac space) between the posterior wall of the heart and 
vertebral column is named after him.
