b. Offenbach (Germany), Jan. 19, 1909, Kammersaenger,(bass-baritone). 
From 1947 permanent member of the Vienna State Opera (honorary 
member), international guest performances in all leading opera houses, 
additional concerts and lieder recitals; leading singer of Wagner 
roles in the 1950s and 1960s, from 1962 also conducted. Ended his 
singing career in 1974.
