!!!Hoyos, Adelsfamilie

Hoyos; noble family originally from Spain; the family still exists.
The first generation of the family came to Austria together with
Ferdinand I in 1520; the family split into two lines in the second
generation. The older line (imperial counts in 1628) died out in 1718,
the younger line (imperial counts in 1674) acquired Horn and Rosenburg
by marriage in 1681 (second name: Sprintzenstein). In the 18th
century, they held all the family possessions (Gutenstein,
Stixenstein, Hohenberg, Persenbeug, Frohsdorf, Drosendorf, Horn,
Rosenburg). Members of the family (e.g. Count Johann Ernst von
Hoyos-Sprintzenstein) held imperial and representational office.
