!!!Huber, Wolf Wolfgang

Huber, Wolf (Wolfgang), b. probably Feldkirch (Vorarlberg), 
around 1480-1485, d. Passau (Germany), June 3, 1553, painter and 
draughtsman. Important representative of the  Danube School, school of 
painting, around 1510 known to have stayed in the Salzkammergut and in 
the Danube area, where he devoted himself to landscape painting. In 
1515 at the latest H. settled down at Passau (court painter to the 
bishop). His pictorial masterpiece is the St. Anna altar (1515-1521) 
in the parish church of Feldkirch, with 8 panel paintings. He is 
considered to be the painter of various portraits; the greatest 
importance is, however, attributed to his drawings.
