b. Leipzig, Germany, Nov. 14, 1827, 
d. Vienna, July 9, 1892 Wien, industrialist, successful textile 
manufacturer and exporter. In Vienna from 1844. Designed the "Stella 
shawl", which made his company the world-wide market leader in this 
field. Developed new machinery and methods to improve production. 
Member of the Lower Austrian Diet from 1862, of the ''Reichsrat 
''(from 1873) and the ''Herrenhaus ''(life member from 1889).
