Jerger, Alfred, b. Brno, Czech Republic (then Bruenn), June 9, 
1889, d. Vienna, Nov. 18, 1976, Kammersaenger* (bass-baritone), 
originally Kapellmeister and actor. From 1921 member of the Vienna 
State Opera, where he worked as director and reviser of libretti, from 
1945 for a short time manager of the State Opera (appointed by the 
entire ensemble). Performed at the Salzburg Festival; numerous tours 
and recordings. From 1947 taught at the Vienna College of Music.
