Jettel, Eugen (Eugène), b. Janovice, Czech Republic (then
Johnsdorf), March 20, 1845, d. Veli Lošinj, Croatia (then
Lussingrande), Aug. 27, 1901, landscape painter. Studied at the Vienna
Academy under A. Zimmermann, friendship with E. J. Schindler and
R. Ribarz, study tours to France, Holland, Italy, Istria and Hungary.
From 1873 permanent residence in Paris, where he was strongly
influenced by French plein-air painting of the school of Barbizon,
returned to Vienna in 1897. Member of the Vienna Secession.
