Jirgal, Ernst, b. Stockerau (Lower Austria), Jan. 18, 1905, 
d. Vienna, Aug. 17, 1956, writer. Especially famous for his 
extensive poetic works, his only major prose work is "Erinnertes 
Jahr" (1947). Editor of the journal "Plan". Awarded the Austrian 
State Prize in 1950.
