Jungarbeiterbewegung, Oesterreichische, OeJAB (Austrian Young
Workers´ Movement), a non-profit, non-denominational,
non-political organisation, founded in 1946 in Vienna by B. Buchwieser
with the assistance of Cardinal T. Innitzer. In 1994 the OeJAB was in
charge of over 25 institutions, including hostels for young workers,
apprentices, schoolchildren, and university students, as well as
refugees and senior citizens (total dwelling capacity: 4,350). In
addition to the social sector, the OeJAB is also involved in the
promotion of European integration and in development cooperation for
the people of the Third World (institutions for education and
training).
