Young Citizens (Jungbuerger), young people who have reached voting 
age and thus have acquired full possession of their civic rights. In 
many municipalities this is celebrated as a special occasion. Often 
the mayor invites the young people in question to a 
"Jungbuerger-Feier"("Young Citizens Celebration"). Some provinces also 
have "Jungbuerger-Buecher" ("young citizens books"). An important 
purpose of the young citizens celebrations is to make the young people 
aware of their democratic rights and duties, and, especially, to 
induce them to participate actively in communal affairs.
