!!!Juridisch-Politischer Leseverein Juridisch-Politischer Leseverein (Juridical-Political Reading Association), founded in 1841, was considered a forum for the moderately liberal views of educated, upper-middle class citizens who were loyal to the state. Its members were mainly civil servants, members of the legal professions, and professors - virtually the entire educated "second society" of Vienna, as it was called. An important discussion forum during the preparatory phase of the revolution of 1848, the Juridisch-Politischer Leseverein was associated with the "Buergerpetition" (citizens´ petition) of March 11, 1848. Later the association divided up and became one of a number of legal practitioners´ societies. !Literature W. Brauneder, Leseverein und Rechtskultur.
