b. Moravská Radimeř (Czech Republic), July 13, 1887, 
d. Zwettl-Niederoesterreich, May 8, 1945 (suicide), physician and 
National Socialist politician. In 1936 member of the "Committee of the 
Seven", which sought an accommodation between the National Socialists 
and the government, March-May 1938 Minister for Social Administration 
in the Seyss-Inquart government, from May 1938 gauleiter of 
"Niederdonau" (Lower Austria), from 1940 Reich Governor and from 1942 
Reich Commissioner of Defence in this area.
