b. Vienna, Nov. 5, 1892, 
d. Vienna, March 26, 1969, paleontologist and botanist. Initially 
secondary school teacher, subsequently in the 
Geological-Paleontological Department of the Museum of Natural History 
in Vienna, finally director of that departent. 1951-64 Professor of 
Paleontology and Paleobiology at the University of Vienna; almost 170 
publications.
