Kalkkoegel Mountains, Tirol, range of the Stubai Alps, to the 
southwest of Innsbruck. Triassic limestone formations, an attraction 
for rock climbers. The highest peaks can be reached with the 
Olympiabahn funicular railway from the Axamer-Lizum (centre of the 
Olympic winter games in 1964 and 1976) to the Hoadl mountain 
(2,340 m) and the Birgitzkoepfl chair lift to the Birgitzkoepfl 
mountain hut (2,035 m). The Kalkkoegel range is a magnificent 
skiing area. Highest mountains: Schlicker Seespitze 
mountain(2,804 m). Mountain refuges: Adolf-Pichler-Huette 
(1,977 m), Starkenburger Huette (2,237 m), 
Birgitzkoepflhuette (2,035 m).
