Fremdenverkehrsort (vor allem im Sommer) im Kalser Tal südlich des Großglockners, zwischen Granatspitz- und Schobergruppe.
Sportheim, Speicherkraftwerk Kalserbach (errichtet 1950, 11,7 MW; Krafthaus bei Kals, Speicher bei Gemeinde St. Johann). Ausgangspunkt der 1. Großglocknerbesteigung 1853.
Pfarrkirche (1439, 1818-21 klassizistisch ausgestaltet, Fresken 1960) in Ködnitz, romanische Filialkirche (um 1200) in Großdorf mit 2-stöckiger Kapelle und gotischem Turm; mehrere Kapellen und Bildstöcke.
