b. Stuttgart (Germany), Dec. 15, 1893, 
d. Vienna, Nov. 5, 1939, writer, officer of the Heimwehr 
(para-military force). 1933 joined the  Heimwehr, editor of Heimwehr 
newspapers, Heimwehr poet, political executive. Later turned away from 
the Heimwehr and turned to the illegal NSDAP. Literary importance is 
attributed to his war novel "Armee im Schatten" (1932,
