Kaltneker (von Wallkampf), Hans, b. Timis^oara, Romania (then 
Temesvár), Feb. 2, 1895, d. Gutenstein (Lower Austria), 
Sept. 29, 1919, narrative writer, poet and dramatist, one of the most 
important representatives of expressionism in Austria. His work 
(mostly published posthumously) is characterised by his opposition to 
conventional moral principles. Central topics are guilt and atonement, 
pain and salvation.
