d. Salzburg, June 8, 1983, journalist and politician (Austrian Social 
Democratic Party, SPOe), 1934 arrested for political reasons, editor 
at the "Demokratisches Salzburger Volksblatt", 1954-1956 member of the 
Landtag, 1956-1969 Landesrat for cultural affairs in Salzburg, member 
of the managing board and from 1971-1983 president of the  Salzburg 
Festival.
