b. Vienna, Feb. 8, 1903, 
d. Vienna, Nov. 5, 1977, diseuse, chanson singer. Debut at the Vienna 
Volkstheater in 1916, from 1920 in Berlin. After returning to Vienna, 
performed in the musical show "Broadway" (with M. Dietrich and P.  
Lorre), in the Kammerspiele and in the "Pavillon" revue theatre (which 
later became the Moulin Rouge). 1928 engagement in Paris in the 
"Casanova". Was one of the first chanson singers (made disc recordings 
as early as in 1928/1929). Lived in the USA for a long time where she 
became a celebrated entertainer. Very interested in Viennese cooking 
and wrote cookery-books. 1975 guest performance at the Theater an der 
Wien.
