Kieslinger, Alois, b. Vienna, Feb. 1, 1900, d. Vienna, June 
1, 1975, geologist and palaeontologist. 1946-1949 supreme geologist of 
the Federal Office for the Preservation of Monuments, 1949-1970 
professor at Vienna University of Technology. His geological 
examination of the stones of historic monuments laid the foundation 
for cultural geology.
