Kilb, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Melk, alt. 
300 m, pop. 2,487, area 45.12 km%%sup 2/%, situated in the 
Sierningtal Valley at the northern foothills of the Alps. - Kilb 
manufactures pallets and wooden prefab houses, has a warehouse and 
some building industry. - Late Gothic staggered hall church with an 
impressive fortified tower (1519) and Baroque stone spire (1762-1772), 
reticulated vault and richly ornamented stellar rib vault, (designed 
by the Steyr Bauhuette in the second half of the 15%%sup th/% 
 century), fine interior with paintings by M. J. Schmidt and 
J. Wetzl (1798-1800).
