Kirchberg an der Pielach, Lower Austria, market town in the district 
of St. Poelten, alt. 372 m, pop. 3,197, area 
63.52 km%%sup 2/%, situated at the confluence of the Soisbach and 
Pielach streams in the northern foothills of the Alps. - Kirchberg 
manufactures wooden fences, furniture and windows; gymnastic equipment 
factory, some building industry; tourist centre; Kirchberg 
multipurpose complex hall. - Late Gothic basilica with nave walls 
resting on pillars, early Gothic choir and a impressive fortified 
tower (around 1500), net and rib vault from the 15%%sup th/%  century, 
neo-Gothic interior (1890-1906); fortified rectory; castle 
(16%%sup th/% /17%%sup th/%  centuries).
