Kittsee, Burgenland, municipality in the district of Neusiedl am See, 
alt. 138 m, pop. 1,957, area 25.15 km%%sup 2/%, situated at 
the border triangle formed by Austria, Hungary and the Slovak Republic 
- Hospital, customs post, chocolate factory, fruit growing and 
processing (apricots); - First documented mention in 1291; modern 
parish church (1952-1956), old castle (formerly moated castle), new 
castle (17%%sup th/%  century, enlarged in 1730-1740 and around 
1900), the castle houses an ethnographical museum; park with corner 
bastion (17%%sup th/%  century).
