!!!Klagenfurter Becken
Klagenfurt Basin, the largest trough of the Eastern Alps lying between
the Gurktal Alps and the Karawanken range, (the basin has an average
depth of 450 m and is 75 km long and 20-30 km wide); it
is a hilly region with areas covered in boulders ( Krappfeld Plain and
Zollfeld Plain), but especially fertile in the east (grain and fruit
growing). In the Ice Age, the Drau glacier formed the basins of Lake
Woerthersee, Lake Ossiacher See and the Rosental Valley. Climate: dry
and hot summers, very cold winters because of temperature inversion (
Inversion), tourist centre.
